The variety is named “Vietnam Super Early Jackfruit” and originates from Vietnam. These Vietnam Jackfruit Plants fruit 5 months earlier than local varieties. While regular jackfruit trees take 4–5 years to produce fruit, this high-yield Kathal variety can fruit in the first year itself, providing commercial production from the second year.
Fruits from October to June continuously (about 9 months). Vietnam Super Early Jackfruit fruits in stages—flowering, small, medium, and harvest-ready fruits. Pruning and cutting between March to June is recommended for best yield.
Fruits usually weigh 2–4 kg. Recommended fruit weight is 1–1.5 kg for consistent quality. The fruit has a very thin skin, 90% edible, soft, and juicy—perfect for fresh consumption and sale.
Fruits can stay on the tree for 3–4 months and remain fresh for 10–12 days after harvesting without spots. Outer color is pure green, inside is pure white.
Ideal temperature range is 8°C to 48°C. Not suitable for regions below 8°C.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and South India are suitable. Not recommended for extreme northern regions due to cold winters.
Standard spacing is 15x15 feet (or 12x12 feet). Around 200–250 plants per acre ensures maximum yield.
From the second year, each plant yields 10–12 kg. By 3–3.5 years, 9-month harvesting yields 100–130 kg per plant; 5-month harvest yields 60–80 kg per plant.
October–February: ₹80–₹100 per kg. After March: ₹30–₹40 per kg when local jackfruit enters the market.
March–August is optimal with sufficient water. Alternatives: February–March or June–August. Avoid April–May (heat) and November–January (cold).
Drip irrigation is recommended for sandy or water-retentive soil; otherwise, regular watering works well.
These plants are sensitive to chemical fertilizers. Use organic fertilizers like cow dung, chicken compost, vermicompost, mustard cake, and neem cake. Apply after insecticide treatment for healthy growth.
