Vietnam Super Early Jackfruit, originally from Vietnam. Unlike native jackfruit that starts production in March, this variety begins 5 months earlier. Normal jackfruit trees take 4-5 years to produce fruit, but Vietnam Super Early Jackfruit bears fruit in the first year and provides commercial yield from the second year.
October to June with 9 months of continuous fruiting. Pruning from March to June helps the tree rest and prepare for the next season. Fruit Weight & Quality: Fruit size ranges from 2 kg to 4 kg. Recommended to maintain 1 to 1.5 kg for uniform growth. Very thin skin with 90% edible, soft inner flesh.
Can be stored on the tree for 3-4 months. After harvesting, remains fresh for 10-12 days without spots. Outer skin remains pure green, inner flesh stays white.
Grows best in temperatures between 8°C to 48°C. Below 8°C is not suitable for cultivation.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and all of South India (except North India where temperatures drop below 8°C). Plant Spacing & Plantation Density: Standard spacing: 15x15 feet. Farmers can also use 12x12 feet spacing. 200 to 250 plants can be grown per acre.
2-year-old trees yield 10-12 kg per tree. 3-3.5-year-old mature trees produce 100-130 kg over 9 months or 60-80 kg in a 5-month cycle.
October to February: ₹80-100 per kg. When native jackfruit floods the market (March-June): ₹30-40 per kg.
If water availability is good, plant between March-August. Otherwise, recommended planting seasons are February-March and June-August. Avoid April-May (extreme heat) and November-January (cold weather).
In sandy soil (low water retention), drip irrigation is compulsory. Other farmers can irrigate as per convenience.
Vietnam Super Early Jackfruit trees are sensitive to strong chemical fertilizers. Excessive chemical use has shown high mortality rates.
